Chuanxilu Research
All Things as One Body Is More Than Romantic Empathy — Wang’s unity does not claim that we can feel everyone’s feelings. Another being left without its proper place marks our benevolence as unfinished, moving cultivation from private peace to public consequence.
Why Did Yangming Learning Travel Beyond China? — Yangming learning entered distinct political and cultural settings in Japan, Korea and elsewhere. Its travel reveals the appeal of an ethics of action—and the danger of reducing history to warrior spirit or success doctrine.
From ‘Renewing’ People to Being Close to Them — A dispute over one character reveals two postures: treating people as objects awaiting improvement, or entering their circumstances and accepting responsibility for nurture and security.
Does ‘Neither Good nor Evil’ Abolish Morality? — The Four-Sentence Teaching belongs to a debate over two paths of cultivation, not a mystical line for casual quotation. Wang preserves an account of original mind while insisting that ordinary people still do good and remove evil.
Training in Affairs Does Not Mean Enduring Everything at Work — Feeling virtuous in quiet proves little, Wang argues; practice appears when events exert pressure. Yet training in affairs neither glorifies abuse nor demands limitless endurance. It develops proportion where values meet friction.
Can Quiet Sitting Resolve Mental Overload? Chuanxilu Is More Cautious — Wang recommends sitting quietly when the mind is scattered and reading when it is sluggish. No method is magical: identify the present distortion, then return from quiet to life.
Investigating Things Does Not Mean Reading the Whole World First — Wang does not reject learning about the external world. He rejects using endless acquisition as a reason to postpone sincerity and action. Rectifying things corrects judgement in the affair where intention is engaged.
The Unity of Knowing and Acting Is Not ‘Think First, Act Later’ — The doctrine is often reduced to a slogan about execution. Chuanxilu asks a harder question: if an idea has never altered your attention, choices or conduct, in what sense do you truly know it?
‘The Mind Is Principle’ Does Not Mean Whatever I Feel Is Right — Wang’s most provocative formula is often mistaken for unlimited subjectivism. Its sharper demand is to discover whether self-interest has disguised itself as moral principle in concrete relationships.
Innate Knowing Is Not ‘Follow Your Feelings’ — An inward feeling does not automatically qualify as liangzhi. Wang treats innate knowing as a shared capacity for moral discrimination while acknowledging that interested desire can obscure it; extending it is therefore continuing work.
